The ruins of St. Karin's church, also called St. Catherine's church, are located in the middle of Visby, right next to the southern side of Stora Torget. The church was originally built by the Franciscan order, the Mendicant Brothers, as a monastery church for the Visby convent that was founded in 1233.

The octagonal shape of the Church of the Holy Spirit is easy to recognize. The ruins are located at the intersection of Norra Kyrkogatan and Hospitalsgatan. The church began to be built in the early 13th century. The church is very well preserved and there has even been previous discussion of restoring it to its original condition.
